More art activities for children in De Betovering program

In the upcoming edition of Festival de Betovering there are more art activities for children aged 0 to 12 to discover. In addition to a rich selection of the finest family performances from home and abroad, the workshop program is live starting today. Thanks to collaborations with new providers and expansions, the upcoming edition offers a wider choice of visual arts workshops. This is a development that De Betovering welcomes; by creating art themselves at a young age, children discover their creative sides, learn to express themselves in different ways, and use their imagination. 

“By making and creating themselves, children are given the space to discover, experiment, and use their imagination. In this way, art and theatre become not just something they see, but something they experience and shape themselves. This stimulates their creativity, boosts their self-confidence, and helps them look at themselves and the world around them with an open mind. We are therefore very pleased with all the new partners and program elements contributing to this this year,” says Miriam Duiker, Festival Director.

Textures, Japanese ink, and strange creatures

In the program, which can be found online on the website, workshops by new partners can be discovered. For example, there is the workshop “Where Fingers Lead” by Kamila Wolszczak. Discover imagination full of traces and textures for 2 to 4-year-olds in collaboration with West at the former American embassy. Older children can get to work at De Graffity Werkplaats in Laak to their own musical instrument using recycled materials or work with street artists on their own Banksy.

Further along in Escamp, artist Sara Pape combines the Japanese suminagashi ink technique with sounds of the earth. At gallery 1646 on Boekhorststraat, you can participate for free in the “ Macho Mystic Meltdown ” all Friday afternoon during the holidays . Create creatures together that constantly disappear, change, or possess special powers.

And there is much more! Go on a safari in the art house of Sis Josip Galerie on the Hoogstraat, and at art space Nest, artist Elena Rosa and musician Filipe Oliveira are giving a workshop combining clay with classical guitar music. At Kunstuitleen Voorburg you can make a little bird, inspired by surrounding paintings. And in the Oppimp Atelier, you can pimp your boring t-shirt. Most museums are hosting workshops or interactive tours especially for De Betovering.
