In MuseumLab, you get to work with truly special peepholes:
- This is how you discover a glimpse with us where a still image transforms into a moving image.
- Be amazed by the beautiful light patterns by peering into the viewfinder.
- And are you stunned by the peephole where you see an upside-down projection by peeking into a tin can with a small hole?.
Intrigued? Then come by and discover how these peepholes work by making them yourself.
Workshop 1:
Create your own camera obscura (Latin for "dark room") using a tin can with a small hole in it. Light from outside shines through the hole, creating a razor-sharp, reduced, and upside-down image of the outside world on the opposite wall. This is a truly unique view.
Workshop 2:
Make your own film using a rotating cylinder and a series of drawings. Look through the slits and let the series of drawings or images spin rapidly. The images now appear to move on their own. Is this magic or science? This technique was invented 200 years ago and is still a fantastic piece of mechanics.
Workshop 3:
Make your own kaleidoscope. The name comes from Greek and literally means "looking at beautiful shapes." It is a viewer that reveals symmetrical, colorful patterns by holding it in the light and rotating it. Do you also see beautiful light patterns through your viewer?
You can attend all workshops, but 1 or 2 is also possible. Reservations are not necessary; just drop by!
