Eleven-year-old Meissy is overjoyed when her father Tom returns home after years of traveling, but her mother forbids her from associating with him. Is it because he is a drifter? During secret visits, she gets to know Tom and his world as a drifter, but she also discovers that he sees things that aren't there and that he believes he is a king. Are these fantasies innocent or actually dangerous?
